If you find yourself in Panama City, Florida over the Valentines weekend, you will find that red is an especially appropriate color. That’s because the Panama City Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
The Panama City Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run was selected by RedDressRuns.org as one of the world’s Top Ten Red Dress Runs of 2014. Among the qualifying factors for the Top Ten selection were support for charity, connecting the Red Dress Run to the Hash House Harriers’ brand, “hashpitality,” good organization and other qualities that make the event unique.
Now in its 14th year, the Panama Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run has gained a reputation as a low-cost, high-quality event at this vacation destination along the Gulf of Mexico.
Roughly 120 hashers attended each of the previous two Panama City Hash’s Red Dress Runs, with about 80 percent of them out-of-towners. In 2014, organizers anticipate hosting 145 hashers, many of whom will stay longer to enjoy the blue waters and pristine white sand beaches of Florida’s panhandle (the hotel typically extends the hash discount beyond the weekend).
The fun begins Friday night at the hotel bar. It’s located just across the bridge from Panama City Beach, which offers additional bars and restaurants for those so inclined.
The Saturday venue for the Red Dress Run offers postcard-quality views of St. Andrew Bay. Locations along the pub crawl are within close proximity of each other, affording hashers more opportunity to do what they do best. Fees do not increase as the event day approaches, but late registrants may miss out on the creative personalized “gimmies” for which the PCH3 Red Dress Run has gained a reputation. Marketed strictly to hashers, the event also welcomes non-hashers.
In keeping with The Lady in Red’s request that every Red Dress Run benefit a charitable cause, $2 of each registration will be donated to the Warrior Beach Retreat and the Central Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross. In this way, the members of PCH3 are giving back to the community in which they hash.
Registration is now open to members of the Hash House Harriers across the globe and to their invited guests.
