Washington, DC Red Dress Run Registration Set to Open with Rego Auction

The 2012 DC-Area Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run is set for Saturday, October 6. Registration officially opens on April 1. 

HOWEVER, the honor of holding prestigious Registration #1 and classy Registration #69 will go to the highest bidders on March 31. Winning bids will be donated to the Beer for Brains Foundation, a national, nonprofit organization of craft-beer lovers, distributors and brewers in support of cutting-edge brain cancer research and treatment options at the new Barrow Brain Tumor Research Center. Half of the funds raised will be directed toward brain cancer research and treatment in the Washington, DC area.

The 2012 DC Red Dress Run will be dedicated to Dan Stringer, “Beer Fairy” and “Rubber Maiden,” DC-area Hash House Harriers whose lives were taken by brain cancer.

Last year, the DC Red Dress Run raised more than $10,300 for two charities; Fisher House Foundation and Food & Friends. What’s more, none of the money raised came from base registration fees. Upon registering this year, hashers are asked to consider clicking the option to make a voluntary donation.

The organizers are also seeking volunteers to help with and participate in the various fundraising events to be held between now and the Red Dress Run. Last year, the DC organizers and volunteers held auctions, raffles, a beer dinner, and a band party.

Instructions for Bidding: Bids – which do not include the base price of the registration fee, must be submitted to RDRCharity [the "at" symbol goes here] dchashing [dot] com on or before March 31, 2012. Bidders should specify whether they’re bidding on #1 or #69.  In case of a tie, the preliminary winners will face off in new round of bidding.  Bid donations will only be collected from winning bidders.
